Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC)
Spiritual, moral, social and cultural education supports students to develop personal qualities, which are valued in a civilised society. The teaching of SMSC permeates across all areas of school life to ensure;
- The effective promotion of the culture and values of the school and wider community
- The integrated teaching of SMSC
- Promotion and development of the emotional health and wellbeing of all students
- Development of self-management and interpersonal skills
- Development of students ability to reflect on personal and religious beliefs, promoting respect for diversity
- Promotion of mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
- Promotion of fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law and individual liberty.
- Promotion and development of student interest in learning about themselves and others, reflecting on their experiences
- Promotion and development of an appreciation of the range of cultural influences that have shaped the community
- The active participation of students in artistic, sporting and cultural opportunities.
