We believe in instilling a passion for achievement and strive to celebrate success in all its forms.

Our goal is to prepare and support our students in aiming for performance levels that are competitive within the national context.

Through intelligent understanding of our students prior and current attainment we set personalised, aspirational targets which set the pace for accelerated progress for all.

Having set very high minimum expectations we regularly assess student progress across the school, tracking both the academic and personal development of every student. We have dedicated teams of people to ensure that our students feel valued and safe as they strive for their personal bests.

"Scrutiny of students work in English, Mathematics and Science shows that the impact of teaching on students progress is gathering pace and is raising standards."

Learning

Learning is the core business of Sir William Stanier Community School.

We have a strong commitment to achieving the highest standards of learning within our classrooms and place an emphasis on developing the skills for independent learning from the start.

We believe that literacy, numeracy and reading are keys that open the curriculum to all and we underline the importance of each in every subject studied. Our expectations for learners and teachers are high and we make a great effort to evaluate both throughout the year; ensuring that quality and effectiveness are maintained.

We look for inspirational teaching to motivate our learners so that achievement, academic excellence and enjoyment go hand in hand.

"Around the school, on the corridors and stairs and outside, students are well behaved and orderly. Staff supervision is vigilant and helps ensure that the school is a well-managed community."

"In all lessons seen by inspectors, teachers were well prepared with plans which took good account of students previous learning so that initial tasks were well matched for most students. Teachers show confidence in teaching their subject, use resources well and have good relationships with students."
